Who's behind it

ReadItAloud is run by Walter and Valerie Szewelanczyk, from Brunswick, Maine. Walter spent his career in technology and is now retired. We started this site because good read-aloud tools can make everyday reading so much easier, but the advice online is often confusing, out of date, or written mainly to sell something.

We also use AI-assisted tools to help with research and drafting. Walter reviews and stands behind what we publish.

How we research and test

We want you to know exactly where our information comes from, so each guide says which of these applies:

• Tested: we followed the steps ourselves on the device or app named, and we say which version and when.
• Researched: we gathered the information from the maker's official help pages, pricing pages and other reliable sources, and we link to them. We haven't tried it hands-on.

If a guide doesn't say something was tested, please assume it was researched. We will never claim hands-on experience we don't have.

Keeping things current

Apps change their features and prices often. Every page shows a “Last checked” date at the bottom so you can see how fresh it is, and we aim to recheck our guides regularly.

How the site is paid for

Some links may earn us a small commission. That never decides what we recommend, and we always point out free options first. See our affiliate disclosure.
